FurnitureHistoryThis table is not a reproduction of any specific existing historic table, but rather a work in the same style and methods. As with all my woodwork, initial forming of the boards (ripping to width, crosscutting, thickness planing) is done with power tools, but the joinery, details, and final surface prep is done entirely with hand tools such as chisels, planes, and scrapers. Using the TableThis table is sized nicely to sup two or for use as a desk. It breaks down into nothing but pegs and planks and so packs quite readily. The three-legged design keeps it from wobbling on uneven ground, but does give it somewhat less ultimate stability. The design could just as readily be executed in a four legged form. Both three and four-legged trestle tables were common in the middle ages. MaterialsThis table is made entirely of red oak. Other woods are available on request. The finish is two coats of boiled linseed oil. CostThis table is for sale for $270. Naturally, I am happy to make a custom table to your specifications in size, materials, and style. | ||
